Grou Tyme Festival ; what is it?
Get ready to celebrate in style! Every year, around August 15th, Acadian National Day, the Grou Tyme Festival brings Halifax to life with Acadian culture. Organized by the Conseil communautaire du Grand-Havre (CCGH), in partnership with the Halifax Regional Municipality, this must-see event features a free, inclusive, and colourful program. Come sing, dance, and celebrate Acadie!
The Festival’s history
Since 2024, the Grou Tyme Festival has taken over from the Quinzou Festival, which had been held in Halifax since 2016. The festival’s name pays tribute to the Grou Tyme of the 2000s, founded in Halifax by Ronald Bourgeois, a prominent figure in the Acadian community. True to this legacy, the festival brings together thousands of people outdoors each year to celebrate Acadie in an inviting, festive, and inclusive atmosphere.
